Malta will host the eighth Commonwealth Youth Games in late 2027.

The Games will take place across the islands of Malta and Gozo, using existing sports facilities organised within four main venue clusters. Two Athlete Villages will be created using hotel accommodation, one on each island.

Approximately 1200 athletes aged 14 to 18 from across Commonwealth Sport’s 74 nations and territories are expected to compete.

The Malta 2027 Sport Programme will feature eight sports. Para Swimming, Sailing and Water Polo will make their Commonwealth Youth Games debut, alongside Athletics and Para Athletics, Netball, Squash, Swimming, Triathlon, and Weightlifting.

Malta 2027 will deliver the largest Para sport programme in Commonwealth Youth Games history. Para Swimming will be included in the Youth Games programme for the first time, building on the inclusion of Para Athletics at Trinidad and Tobago 2023.

Alongside competition, the Games will include a Cultural and Education Programme focused on youth engagement and the diversity of the Commonwealth. Planning for the Games also considers long-term impact, including sport participation, event delivery capacity and community benefit beyond 2027.
